BMP-2 Gunnery Trainer
The gunnery training is an excellent and necessary part of BMP training at all levels of experience. The actual size replica of BMP-2 turret, is equipped with all necessary instruments.
The Instructor/Operator station controls the entire Gunnery simulator with its functionality and simulation configuration. It also enables creation of training tasks and provides the training evaluation.
Production of the simulation system is based on universal modules/technologies.
The main training objectives are:
- Improvement of correct handling and operation of every turret team
- The training of the turret team's collective automation, coordination and team work
- Training and improvement of firing sequence, including target selection, target acquisition, target tracking and firing
- Advanced BMP-II crew training (more turret crew together) at the highest level of combat and tactical knowledge
The Gunnery simulator can be an effective part of the complex training system. The system consists of CBT multimedia classrooms, driver and gunnery trainers, which can be used for individual training and full-mission simulation and planning.
The system can also be equipped with mission planning system as well as an evaluation system with record / playback functions to Increase the training efficiency.
The system can incorporate a number of exercise types. Each type of exercise corresponds to a different training objective or training stage.
The basic exercise examples are:
- Pantograph; a of type exercise which records a student’s capability, in manipulating the basic power drive controls of the turret, to keep following a target.
- Boresighting / calibration; a of type exercise, used to train the crew, in the alignment of the sights and the Fire Control Computer to the weapon boresight.
- Preparation for firing; a type of exercise, used to train the crew in the start up procedure for the simulator. It takes the system from the ‘OFF’ state to the 'fully functional turret' state.
- Target identification; a type of exercise, used to train the crew in target identification.
- Combat training; a type of exercise, used for training and improvement of the entire crew’s collective automation, coordination and teamwork.
- Fire control; a type of exercise used for advanced crew training at the highest level of combat and tactical knowledge.
